ERDEM is an independent house of bold fashion for women, based in London. Founded in 2005 by designer Erdem Moralioglu, the brand has forged its own path within the industry. Poetic and rigorous, ageless and timeless, powerful and versatile, Erdem's world is an intriguing interplay of strength and beauty. In nineteen years, Erdem has established an exuberant language of femininity that transcends fashion to inspire strength and confidence in the women for whom he designs. Respect for traditional skills is combined with an excitement for innovation, in technique and application. Erdem is at heart a storyteller. Born in Montreal, Erdem trained at the Royal College of Art, London. Once graduated, Erdem spent a year in New York before returning to establish his eponymous label in East London Since launching, Erdem has earned critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including the 2008 British Fashion Council's Fashion Forward Award, the 2010 inaugural British Fashion CouncilNogue Designer Fashion Fund Award and the 2014 BFC Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. The brand opened its flagship store in Mayfair in August 2015.
A passionate supporter of the arts, Erdem marked his debut as a costume designer for the stage in 2018, creating costumes for the Royal Ballet's Corybantic Games, working closely with the choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. Pieces from Erdem's collections have been exhibited globally, at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Pala is Galliera.
In 2020 Erdem was awarded with an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to the fashion industry.
