Ludovic de Saint Sernin represents a return to beauty, seen via sensuality and sexuality, with an exacting approach to design and make. Saint Sernin is a 29 year old French designer who lives and works in Paris. He graduated in Fashion Design from l’ESAA Duperré and was a member of the design team at Balmain before launching his own label in June 2017 with his debut SS18 collection. While he presents predominantly on male models, each piece is designed to be worn by women as well and he presented his AW19 collection with both boys and girls to illustrate this. The label is also well known for underwear, forming a new product category of luxury underwear for men, the eyelet brief in particular is now a consistent, direct-to-consumer best seller for the brand. The debut Ludovic de Saint Sernin Underwear campaign was launched at the end of May 2019, signifying the importance of this element of the brand. Many of the clothes and accessories are made in France and sustainable practices are always closely followed. For example surplus leathers from Hermès are used for most of the leather pieces. Collaborations have included Swarovski, John Lobb and Sunspel, following a desire to work with ateliers and makers who are best in their field. In June 2018 Ludovic de Saint Sernin was awarded the prestigious ANDAM Creative Label Prize. Born out of a mutual admiration for each others work, the campaign for AW19 and SS20 was photographed by Willy Vanderperre. For Spring Summer 2020 Ludovic de Saint Sernin was accepted by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode onto the official calendar of the Men’s Fashion week in Paris.
