Founded in Cairo in 2024 by Shaimaa and Fatma El-Alawy, mesh--mesh began as an experiment: blending new technologies such as 3D printing and the region’s rich heritage of stories, art and beauty, with a spirit of humor and child-like wonder to create whimsical, contemporary bags for special moments.
Through in-depth research and rigorous exploration, mesh--mesh seeks new ways to reinterpret themes of history and identity and embracing duality as a core value. Each bag balances the precision of complex processes and intricate geometric patterns with the freedom of bold, playful and eccentric forms. The result is a bag that is both a joyful art-wear piece and a meaningful form of self-expression.
Looking ahead, mesh--mesh aims to push the boundaries of technology in design, not only in form-finding and storytelling, but also in pairing modern innovation with ancient techniques, developing new methods, enabling sustainable small-batch production and experimenting with advanced materials.
