Tara Babylon

Tara Babylon is a contemporary manifestation or reimagining the ancient city of Babylon, symbolizing a creative utopia.

The concept involves utilizing traditional artisanal techniques in innovative ways to establish the brand's unique aesthetic.

Tara Babylon's creative vision merges traditional artisanal techniques with a modern vibrancy, evoking the spirit of a new ancient Babylon.

These techniques blend traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary twist.

Transforming everyday items like safety pins into rebellious crocheted art, turning elastic weaving into custom designs, and seamlessly blending carpet-style textiles with contemporary silhouettes and hardware resulting in visually striking and distinctive pieces.

The brand's identity is characterized by bursts of color, texture, playfulness, and prints.

Tara Babylon's designs are vibrant, tactile, and edgy, standing out with dynamic visual appeal.

In summary, Tara Babylon represents a fusion of ancient craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities, resulting in a brand that is both rooted in tradition and forward-thinking in its approach to fashion and aesthetics.

In a time when machines often overshadow handcrafted work, Tara Babylon proudly revives the spirit of artisanal craftsmanship in playful ways.

Using textile techniques to breathe life into creations, preserving the special essence of handmade excellence whilst having fun with the process.

Sustainability and ethical practices are core values of the brand, challenging the industry's environmental impact with a performative spirit.

Tara Babylon goes beyond fashion, actively supporting initiatives that empower women.

Remaining a passionate advocate for change, using our platform to inspire and uplift those in our sphere of influence.

As a British-Iraqi designer and performance artist, I have always aimed to push beyond what is traditionally accepted.

My education at Central Saint Martins and Parsons School of Design has been accompanied by numerous awards and recognitions, reinforcing my commitment to the uniqueness of my work.

In my past i worked alongside performers and designed costumes which included Lady Gaga, I have always been drawn to the eccentric and eclectic. I have a degree in garment construction from Manchester which enabled me to make clothing.

I worked as a pattern maker for a high street brand and interned for Gareth Pugh showing in London and Paris fashion weeks before continuing my fashion design education to postgraduate level.

I am a distinction student from CSM and a scholarship student from Parsons.

My brand's essence lies in diversity and innovation, with a special focus on textiles, color and gender fluidity.

I find joy in creating designs that are vibrant, show meticulous craftsmanship, and blend unique textiles with elements of performance art.

In a time where automation is becoming more prevalent, I am proud to champion the art of handmade craftsmanship.

My techniques include weaving, printing, tufting, and crochet, ensuring each piece is distinctive and embodies artisanal quality.
