Zeina Issa is a London-based Syrian designer developing a distinct visual language through her personal interpretation of alternative, contemporary Arab Muslim womanhood. Her work responds to the political, cultural, and religious scrutiny placed on Arab and Muslim identity, asserting an unapologetic vision of self-authored womanhood rooted in pride, adornment, and excess. Through maximalist silhouettes and materially driven garments incorporating chainmail, coins, Syrian cross-stitch and historical symbols, she recontextualizes heritage, collapsing past and present into one another. Zeina debuted at London Fashion Week with her Central Saint Martins MA collection.
